Twenty something years ago when I last went to a Gary Numan concert, (Hammersmith Apollo, and then The Dominion) for the Warriors Tour, the tubes were full to the brim with Numan look-a-likes.... ...Glad to see all this time later on that on Tuesday night at the Cambridge Barfly @ Junction things were no different (apart from there being no tubes in Cambridge) and I suspect some of those there were wearing exactly the same outfits as they did all that time ago. A fantastic romp through the Replicas album (just with fewer synths and more guitars) and as a bonus (for me at least) we also got "We Have A Technical" [a track that sits in my all time 'top ten' songs ever (and does "I Die, You Die" (also by Numan), "Electricity" (OMD), "Old Hornie" (Inkies) and "Brick Shithouse" (Placebo) to name but 4 others)]. ...Fingers crossed for a "Pleasure Principle" tour soonest. ...and yes, after a couple of cans of Red Stripe, she did enjoy the light beating across the rump with a cat-o-nine-tails. The trouble with lesbian friends
...is that they do try to cheer you up when they think that your other third is seeing someone else. and so that's why she sent me the racy text messages from an obscure mobile number... and that's why she's going to get spanked when I see her next week at Gary Numan. There, mystery solved.
